August in the Southwest, Colorado, Utah and Nevada

An exploration of the Southwestern U.S. provided some gorgeous areas to photograph the late Summer flowers, afternoon thundershowers, distant vistas, and imagery of a wide open landscape. The Rockies and San Juan Mountains of central and Southern Colorado, the desert buttes of Moab and Western Utah, time spent with friends and traveling back roads each provided the ingredients for a very memorable journey. Hope these images help to take you along.

  1. As instructed, I sat back, took a deep breath and spent some time enjoying the images. They indicate the trip to colorado must certainly fall into the category of lifetime memories. They go at great length to reinforce the idea that the journey is not the destination. Clarity and quiet are pervasive internal components and you have to have it in order to get it to show up on the images. Perhaps just the search for those qualities is the force allowing them to reside in so many of your pictures. I could almost taste the rain. Thanks.
High altitude has always been your friend and now you can add night to that long list of friends. You and the arid world have an affinity for each other. Have you ever considered doing a photo essay on the desert? Or perhaps just water. Regardless, You left me wanting to see more and that is a great place to be left.

  2. Wow. The compound at Wagon Wheel looks like a beautiful place to slow down and enjoy the peace of the outdoors. Wish we could have joined you on the trip, but your pictures are the next best thing. Where are the action photos?
